This is our country – Kyrgyzstan. Most likely, you have never been here, maybe you don’t even know where it is and how people live here.
But all this will not prevent little Kyrgyzstan from settling in you if you open your heart.
Kyrgyzstan is a small mountainous country, if you look at a world map, you will see that it is in the heart of Asia. It is home to 7 million people of 80 different nationalities. 94% of the country is mountainous, and people live in the remaining 6% valleys. The percentage of evangelical Christians in Kyrgyzstan is less than 0.5%.
The majority of Christians, and therefore churches, are located in the capital Bishkek, with these churches we have the most interaction. The rest of the Christians are scattered throughout the country, forming small churches and home groups. It is wonderful that Christians can be a light throughout the country, but it is a great challenge.
Many believers are isolated from fellowship with other churches. Kyrgyzstan is a mountainous country, and it is expensive, time-consuming, and often dangerous to travel by car. Often small groups experience spiritual decline because they do not have sufficient fellowship among believers, spiritual guidance (no preachers or other ministers), opposition and hatred from the rest of the people in the area. It must be said that these believers are still trying to shine in their difficult circumstances for the glory of God.
These brothers and sisters experience great difficulty in developing ministries, including children’s ministry. In some areas we have our links, we rejoice to see CEF workers and helpers laboring there. But there are numerous groups of believers who still do not know how they can serve children today and do not have the necessary tools to do so.
We repeatedly organized small trips to different parts of the country, held trainings for children’s workers, presented programs for Christmas and Easter. Before Christmas 2024 we visited all areas of the country, held Christmas meetings with teachers and children, shared programs and booklets “Light”. We had wonderful fellowship, encouraged them and were encouraged ourselves – we saw that in some villages where 5-10 Christians live, the ministry of Christ is still going on. These churches do not have a lot of money, so other bigger churches try to support them, visit them at least, and we in our turn look for opportunities to provide them with trainings and literature free of charge. Brothers and sisters are very grateful for this support.
We, the CEF team of Kyrgyzstan, have a great desire to develop children’s ministry in small churches and home groups throughout the country. To do this we need to visit them repeatedly, to communicate and have trainings and presentations, to bring teachers’ guides and necessary literature. This spring, especially before Easter, we plan to visit the remote regions of the country again. But this, as mentioned above, is expensive, time-consuming, and often dangerous.
We lack prayer and financial support. We are not able to cope on our own. But God does not call us to do everything on our own.
In the first epistle of Peter 5:7 is written: “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”.
Jesus cares for us. God gives all believers the desire and opportunity to serve Him. So, we want to appeal to you, if Jesus gives you the desire and opportunity to participate in our ministry through prayer or finances, or maybe both, please respond. Only together can we do it.
Easter Together in Kyrgyzstan – 2025
Pray for the children of Kyrgyzstan this Easter
We have a wonderful opportunity this year to take the Gospel to children through Easter Clubs and Gospel literature distribution! Pray that. God will work in many lives!
