Children on a horse

“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might.” (Ecclesiastes 9:10)

What do you know about Kyrgyzstan? This country, nestled among breathtaking mountains and crystal-clear lakes, is also home to many hurting children. Nearly one million children live below the poverty line. Many suffer from malnutrition, lack access to clean drinking water, and are left to care for themselves while their parents leave the country to earn a living. And yet — God is at work in Kyrgyzstan.

More than 80% of the population is Muslim. As a result, most Kyrgyz children have never heard about the Saviour and struggle to find meaning and hope in their lives. For some, the weight of despair becomes overwhelming — hundreds of cases of child suicide are recorded each year. And yet — God is at work in Kyrgyzstan.

Though they are few, there are believers in Kyrgyzstan who love the Lord Jesus and faithfully share the Good News with the children of their country. CEF workers and volunteers are among them. This year, they are planning to organise evangelistic events and camps for orphans and children from low-income families. These will be days when children are well fed, cared for, accepted, and valued. Most importantly, they will hear that they have a loving Heavenly Father who cares for them. Yes — God is at work in Kyrgyzstan.

While visiting Kyrgyzstan, a CEF European leader saw the need for help and challenged workers from other countries to organise mission trips there. At the end of May, a team of 15 people will travel to Kyrgyzstan to support the local ministry. It is expected that there will be more such trips later. By God’s grace, I hope to join one of the groups travelling to Kyrgyzstan and do my best to serve there. I could not stand aside, knowing that God is at work in Kyrgyzstan.

This year, in Kyrgyzstan, I want to do what my hand finds to do, as Ecclesiastes encourages.

What can your hand do for the children of Kyrgyzstan?

  • Lift your hands in prayer for the hurting Kyrgyz children and for those who are faithfully serving them.
  • Give 20 euros to help one orphan spend one day in a summer camp and hear about Christ.
  • Support my mission trip. I need 2,000 euros to cover airfare, accommodation, and part of the camp expenses.

Let’s do what we can — together — because God is at work in Kyrgyzstan.

With gratitude and prayer,
Tatiana Negrea
