1. An incredibly challenging calling
The war which started in February 2022 has deeply impacted the lives and ministries of CEF workers. Workers closer to fighting zones are subject to many challenges. Maria told us that, “As long as there are children in this country (and area), I will stay here to take the Gospel to them.” It was also in her Good News Club that a child prayed to God in thankfulness that if the current challenges did not exist, then he would never have known God.
2. Faithful
The town that Maria lived in was increasing attacked and finally only a few thousand people were left. Recently we heard that the family home was completely destroyed by bombing, making it impossible for Maria and her sister Tatyana to continue to live in the area. Their elderly father is still living, but sadly their mother died in the war.
3. Ministry Continues
The leadership of CEF in Ukraine have brought Maria, Tatyana and their father to live in the National Office. They are determined to continue taking the Gospel to children from their new location. Praise God for such dedication but these faithful servants of God need our prayers and support.
Three other workers have also been forced from their area. We continue to keep in contact with them to try to ensure housing for them too.
4. The National Office
As well as being a place for Maria and her family to live, it is also a place of administration and literature storage. However, there are challenges connected to the state of the office. The roof needs urgent work and it is estimated that €10,000 is needed to make the necessary repairs.
5. Ministry Needs
There are immediate ministry needs in the country:
- A ministry car for Maria who has moved to live in the National Office, together with her sister.
- A ministry car for Anna who is alone in another area, reaching children with the Gospel.
We need to help these ladies to continue to serve the Lord and faithfully reach children in their area who so desperately need the Gospel.
6. We need you!
Over the next weeks there are many opportunities to take the Gospel because of the Christmas celebrations. Looking around there are not many reasons to celebrate, but looking up, we remember the true reason to rejoice – the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. This is a message that children need to hear.
